The C-Chain is the destination

Avalanche runs an X-Chain for transfers, a P-Chain for staking and a C-Chain implementing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (Avalanche Support). Bridged tokens and applications live on the C-Chain, and every quote above is for that network. AVAX itself exists on all three, which is why exchanges offer more than one Avalanche option under the same asset name.

Two address formats under one name

X-Chain addresses begin with X-avax and P-Chain addresses with P-avax (Avalanche Support), while the C-Chain uses the 0x form every EVM network shares. Sending to the wrong one is the characteristic way funds go missing on this route — not through the bridge, but through a withdrawal screen where the wrong Avalanche option was selected.

Gas at both ends

The transfer starts with a transaction on Ethereum, paid in ETH, and the table lists that separately from the provider’s fee. On the other side, C-Chain transactions are paid in AVAX. Arriving with exactly the amount you moved leaves nothing to move it with.

Which Avalanche network do the funds arrive on?

The C-Chain. It is the EVM part of Avalanche and the one meant whenever a wallet or an exchange simply says "Avalanche" for a token transfer.

What is the difference between the C-Chain and the X-Chain?

The X-Chain is for sending and receiving assets, the P-Chain for staking, and the C-Chain runs smart contracts. Their addresses differ too: an X-Chain or P-Chain address is not usable on the C-Chain.

What do I need on Avalanche afterwards?

AVAX, which is what C-Chain transactions are paid in. A stablecoin balance arriving on its own cannot be moved again until some AVAX arrives.

How long does the transfer take?

Deposits into the Avalanche C-Chain are not held back by any waiting period, so the time is the provider's own. Each publishes an estimate in the Time column, and "no data" where it gives none.
