Why quotes to Base differ from each other
Base is a rollup on top of Ethereum, and its own bridge connects only those two networks. A standard withdrawal from Base back to Ethereum has to wait out a challenge period of seven days before it can be finalised; deposits into Base have no such wait (Base documentation). So on routes to Base the spread between providers is their own pricing, liquidity and routing — not the network. That is what the table above measures.
Gas on Base is paid in ETH
Base charges transaction fees in ETH (Base documentation). Stablecoins that arrive on Base with no ETH beside them cannot be moved again until some arrives, which matters if you plan to swap or forward the funds after the transfer. The gas column in the table is the cost on the network you send from, not on Base.
When the exchange row is the cheaper way in
If the money already sits on an exchange that lists Base as a withdrawal network, withdrawing straight to Base skips the source-chain transaction altogether, and we show that row even when it beats every bridge. It does not cover getting funds onto the exchange, trading fees or account requirements. Exchanges also list networks per token: where an exchange does not support Base for the token you picked, there is no row for it rather than a guess.
Two USDC tokens circulate on Base
Circle issues native USDC on Base, and an older token bridged from Ethereum, USDbC, circulates alongside it (Circle). They are separate contracts. The quotes here use native USDC, so if a wallet shows a balance an exchange or a swap will not accept, check which of the two you are holding.
Questions
How do I bridge crypto to Base?
Either through a bridge, in one transaction from the network your funds are on, or by withdrawing from an exchange that lists Base as a network. Both routes are compared here for the token and amount you choose.
How do I move crypto from an exchange to a Base wallet?
On the withdrawal screen, choose Base in the network selector before pasting the address — the address alone does not tell the exchange which network to use. Withdrawal fees and minimums for the exchanges we track are in the table above, for the token you selected.
Can I send USDT to an ETH address?
Addresses on Base, Ethereum and other EVM networks look identical, but the token has to exist on the network the transfer travels over, and the receiving wallet or exchange has to be watching that network. Choose the network deliberately rather than assuming it from the address format.
How long does USDC take to transfer?
Into Base nothing enforces a wait, so the time is whatever the provider needs; each publishes its own estimate, and "no data" appears where a provider gives none. Withdrawals from Base back to Ethereum are different — those wait out a seven-day challenge period.
How do I send USDC to MetaMask on Base?
MetaMask shows Base only after the network has been added to the wallet, and shows a token only after its contract is added or detected. The transfer itself is an ordinary route to Base — compare it in the tool above before you send.
